Question by Twitch: How to turn off the lcd moniter on an acer notebook?
I have a acer aspire 3680 notebook and the lcd moniter is broken, I want to turn it off completely so I can use my seperate moniter which I can plug into the laptop and use. However, the display does not switch over to the seperate moniter. How do I get the computer to use a different moniter then the lcd display screen it has.
P.S. The seperate moniter will work in safe mode.

I don’t think you can, but if you could, it would be in the Power Settings in the Control Panel.

Most notebooks have a key combination you press to cycle between internal monitor, external only monitor, or both internal and external simultaneous monitor. Check the number row or the function keys on the keyboard, there might be a key with a light blue graphic on it that looks like a monitor, or it will say “CRT” or “LCD” or something like that. You press the Fn key and that other key with the monitor graphic on it at the same time to cycle between external / internal monitors.
On one of my laptops, its the F5 key. There is no standard for this, so it could be any key, but is usually one of the number keys (not on the keypad, though) or one of the function keys. The Fn key is normally located in the lower left corner of most laptop keyboards.
